The evolution of Norba Club de Golf with the new irrigation system.

In 2.017, following an irrigation audit, Norba Club de Golf (Cáceres, Spain) commissioned us to draw up an irrigation project with the aim to improve efficiency and water conservation.

We designed an irrigation system with the IC decoder system of RainBird , double sprinkler in greens, individual head control and a new secondary (laterals) pipe system. The main PVC lines were kept, so the existing pump station, although VFDs for each pump were installed. The works commenced in 2.017 as well, and we managed to reduce the irrigated area of the course in a 15%, thanks to the creation of native areas (in carries, between tee boxes, outrough…).

During our consultancy visit last June, we were able to see first hand how the golf course was evolving and how it was facing the beginning of the hard summer in Extremadura. The result is more than satisfactory, with the playing areas offering magnificent playability and density.

The new project, together with the daily management of irrigation and the programming based on data collected by the golf course weather station, has allowed for a reduction in annual water consumption. We at SURTEC are very proud to have been part of this project with which we were able to improve the course and save water.
